Orby

Privacy Policy

Version of October 15, 2026

What we keep, why, where it lives, and how you stay in control.

Our approach: keep less

What we don't keep can't leak. So we keep as little as Orby needs, lock what we keep, and never sell it.

What we keep

Your profile and choices, as you set them: nickname, bio, photos, Moments, albums, posts, lights, and who you like, match, follow or link with.

Your phone number only as a scrambled code (a keyed hash) to sign you in, and a security email, locked, for account alerts.

Never your exact location: your phone sends only a rough area of about 5 km.

For verification: only that you passed, when, and your birth year (for your age). Never your ID, selfie or full birth date.

When you were last active, as a rough level (never an exact time shown to others), and basic security records such as sign-ins.

Chats

Chats are end-to-end encrypted: messages, photos and videos are locked on your phone and only the people in the chat can open them. Orby's servers hold only scrambled data and can't read it.

Photos and videos sent in chats are deleted from our servers after 30 days.

Who sees what

Nothing about you is public. Your profile shows only what you chose, and only to verified members who may see it. Your age and online status show only if you allow it.

Nobody ever sees who passed on them, who said no to a card, or who reported them.

Where your data lives

Members who sign up with a Canadian number have their photos and files kept in Canada; members from the United States, in the United States.

We use trusted providers only to run Orby: cloud hosting and storage, automatic photo checks, text-message codes, identity verification and app-store payments. Each may use your data only for that job.

Why we use it

To run Orby, keep members safe (checks, reports, preventing abuse), and improve the app. We don't sell your data or use it for outside advertising.

We share data with authorities only when the law requires it, and only what we hold, which by design is little.

Your choices and rights

Hide parts of your profile, your age or your online status; switch Discover off; block or report anyone.

Ask for a copy of your data or a correction through Settings → Help.

Delete your account at any time in Settings → Account: your profile, photos, Moments and albums are deleted, and your nickname is held for 30 days so nobody can take it at once.

Every member accepts this version in the app before entering. Orby keeps each version word for word, and a signed record of each acceptance.
